Way to go Cingular
There's always people like this, though, trying to make a few extra bucks.

What a jerk... but who doesn't delete their contacts when they turn in their phone? (And who doesn't store their contacts in their SIM card?)

I was thinking the same thing. I would never leave even a calender entry in a phone I donate or give to someone else. I'd make sure there's nothing at all stored in the phone anymore before giving it away...people.

Me too. We gave a couple of our old phones away to shelters through Cingular and Sprint (now I am wondering if they didn't do the same thing....who knows if this day and age), and I went into the security settings and erased the phone books and did a system reset of the phone. I then went into every menu that I knew had contact information, and all of it was erased.

I don't store #'s in my sim because on my V551 voice dialing and distinctive ringing only work on contacts stored in the phone, ont the sim. But yes, I would delete everything before disposing of a phone. (I still have all of my old phones though)

Maybe the person that had the phone, didn't know or realize that they didn't delete them or think about it, I have bought phones on Ebay with the contacts still on it, people are forgetful or cluless about things like there personal information.
As for the Rep, he is a and I hope they nail him to the wall, How can people use such a line & then sell the phone, what about the people that do need them, such as the battered wive's ETC...
Glad he got caught.

Way to go Cingular? It's not their fault. Unless you want to blame them for hiring the guy to begin with.

I would be shocked if this didn't happen somewhere at every company that accepts phones for donations.

Your right, it isn't Cingulars fault. I think I'd die from the shock if this guy was the only one that has done this in the past.

I think that when wireless companies do this kind of thing that they should put the phones they get that have good resale value on eBay. Then take the money they make and get Nokia or some other company to sell them a bunch of basic refurb phones (like nokia 1100). That way these not for profit groups get more of what they need. I'd rather see 10 women with 1100's then one with a v600.
