Does anyone know what these codes stand for? I put a picture of one of them here; the 2 on the right side of the screen appears briefly every few seconds and then disappears. I've also seen B, C, and P appear in the same spot. I assume C is for circuit and P is for packet, but those only seem to appear while I'm idling. When I place a call, the display shows D (dialing?), T, and H in rapid succession. When I hang up, it shows U, P, and B. Does anyone know what all the letters stand for? I just found this right before I went to post this message: when my phone sends out two bursts of data while idling, U, P, 2 shows up, followed by (I think) D, P, 2. I can tell it's sending because any amplified speakers within several feet of the phone start popping. Also, since I have that image up, I've been told that the [316][01] between "NEXTEL" and the time and date has to do with reprogramming the equipment at the tower for nationwide direct connect. It's displayed this for a couple months now, but I haven't gotten any definitive information on just what these numbers mean. The tower's ASR registration number is 1005721, located in western Michigan at 42-57'-35"N, 85-53'-45"W, if that helps at all. Wasn't sure if I should've posted this in the Motorola forum, but since this is somewhat more technical than a question like "which is better, the T720 or the v60i?", I thought maybe this category would be more appropriate. To enable the codes on your phone, the sequence is # * [Menu] [Right joystick] and the menu item is "Err/Channel Codes:". -- Eric |

Well, I was told by a person in Nextel data today that the [316][01] were numbers related to the rollout of nationwide direct connect. As for the error and channel codes, she'd tried to get a list of them but not even she could get the information. Guess CDMA, TDMA and GSM have more experts as well as customers... guess that's not too surprising. -- Eric |
