Default wireless internet question

What is the difference between GPRS class 8 and GPRS 2 + 4? I have the samsung sgh-x427 which uses the class 8, but am thinking of getting the Motorola v400 which uses the latter. Are there any noticable speed differences?

You won't notice a difference when using the phones (WAP). But you may notice a slight difference when using the phones as modems hooked up to a PC/notebook.

Class 8 is means that the device can use one uplink and four downlink time slots at the same time.

2+4 corresponds to Class 10 which means that you can have up to 2 uplink time slots. This give higher potential speeds in the uplink. Current GPRS devices are designed for a maximum of 5 active timeslots. Therefore, if you have 2 up you can only have 3 downlink time slots with a 2+4 device.

Refer to: GPRS Classes
