Good luck!

Last summer, I bought and returned (the same day) a SpeakOut phone, because the voicemail did not work. If the number was dialed, the caller heard a recording that the customer was unavailable or outside the service area.

I called their "customer service" and after three hours the voicemail box was still not working, so I returned the whole package for a refund. Since it was a simple matter of reactivating the voicemail box, it should have taken them no more than 10 seconds to fix.

I tried several other prepay services since then, and ultimately went with T-Mobile on a regular monthly plan.

I havnt heard too many good things about Speakout either... I would actually go ahead and see if you can get hooked up with Virgin Mobile up there. I had them for just over a year and didnt have too many problems with em.
