Default Verizon Cell Site in Huntington Park, CA

A New site was just put up on a new light pole on Florence and California/Salt Lake streets in Huntington Park, CA. It's been up for about a month and there does not seem to be any improvement in signal on either of my tri-mode or dual digital phones, even when right next to it. It has a verizon sticker on it, with VZW's Network operations center 800 number on it. I was wondering why it would not be turned up yet. Also there still is no "cobra-head" placed on the two arms that are going to be the new light pole, so maybe it doesn't have any juice yet. Is there any other reasons that anyone can think of? is there such a thing as a 1xrtt only site that my phone wouldn't pick up. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Just give it some more time. I've seen these things get delayed and sit for months inactive due to the local telco not delivering their T1's on time or the city not issuing the final permit in a timely manner.

Building the site is the easy part, zoning, permits, telco hard the hard parts that take forever.

I read in a previous post that VZW let go all there contractors last month due to not enough sites going on air, is it at all possible that this site got put up by a contractor and was let go and is now sitting in limbo. I doubt that VZW would spend money on a lease and the equipment and just leave it there unused but I'd figure i'd ask. also is there such a thing as a 1xRTT (Broadband access) only site?

That's false. Verizon didn't let all of their contractors go. Like I said in my previous post the delay is due either to the local telco or city permits.

I'm not saying that it's not true but no carrier let's all of their contractors go. They always keep some around to complete jobs when needed They could very well have let many go. But that's only because there's not enough work happening.

Well I knew a soon as I started talking about it, It would happen. The other day it got turned up. Now full bars in all area's of my house. Where before it would bounce between 3 cell sites and two different switches. Fun times, but they are now over, good job Verizon
