Most of this is very outdated info but I thought this site was worth posting: http://html.nbc11.com/sh/idi/technol...cell_zones.swf |

Good info, it does look at bit outdated, a few of the verizon and sprint dead spots I know are good as of when I was up there about a month ago.

Yes it's outdated info based on the site deadcellzones.com which has been around since like 2000 without any updated on the records.

Interesting to see that a news station has this on their site. It's kind of funny to go back and look at places where you used to have little or no coverage and now you have full coverage

I see pretty good coverage from a VZW pont of view at least. One nice thing about Verizon here is it allows roaming on SPCS, which has come in very handy out in the suburbs and some rural areas. Otherwise there would only be an analog or unususable VZW digital signal. I've set my phone to force SPCS or can directly enter the SPCS channel# while travelling, from the debug menu, which cuts out that pesky PRL hunting around for _its_ favorites. Between VZW D/A and SPCS, along with a TDMA prepaid phone, I'm pretty well covered hiking, driving and working in various suburbs. Canyon bottoms, due to the very hilly terrain around the Bay Area, can be very difficult places to get any signal in. |
