Hey folks- I know, I know...low per minute charge isn't the only measure of a prepaid phone package. But I'll ask anyway: what's the lowest per minute prepaid cost you've found around Denver these days? We're a low usage family, and I'd like to buy one of those "big chunk of minutes that last 365 days" packages to keep costs as low as possible Thanks for your ideas, TPG |

I splurged and got a $20 Beyond card and got 205 minutes which is less than .10/minute. Conceivably it can last a lifetime, except you need to make a call every 60 days. The downside is Beyond does not offer Denver numbers, Dallas being the closest to DEN. Also, when roaming, which happens in the CO mountains away from I-70, the rate quadruples, but that is still a better deal than other services over a period of time. There are other deals that approach .10/minute, like Cingular's minutes, after the $1 daily charge. Alltel & T-Mobile get you closer to .25/min. but over a year you're still spending a lot more than Beyond. At the $100 level, T-Mobile's deals are among the best. Easy Speak from 7-Eleven is about .20/minute, but they now inlcude an additonal regular charge that makes them less appealing. | |

BR thanks for the reply...very informative. I'd seen a few of the "bigger company" rates (including cingular's 1.00/day, which is a kick in the teeth compared to the old ATT's Free2Go) I'll definitely check out your ideas. Thanks a bunch! TPG |
