I just checked the Sprint website and they now claim to natively cover the city of Green River and show coverage on I-70 all the way to Grand Junction...does anybody know when this went live or what SID Sprint uses in that area?? I went through that area about 1.5 months ago and there was still no sign of Sprint as far as I could tell, any input?? ~Andy |

Wonder if Sprint will get I-70 100% covered in UT before Verizon does |

I'm going to be down in that area over Father's Day Weekend so I will definitely check on that, but as of last month, there was still no Sprint coverage.

I've never really studied Sprint's SID's outside of CA. So I don't know. But I would think that Grand Junction might be a different SID since it's an affiliate area. Here in Southern, CA Sprint uses a different SID in Bakersfield (which is affilaite) then they do for Los Angeles.

So Sprint might actually serve that coverage along I-70 with a CO SID??? I checked the web and only found one sid for all of Utah(Sprint): 4180 |

Not doubting that at all but don't foget this is new coverage that might not be on the web yet. If it's a continuation of the Grand Junction market (affiliate) then it might have a different SID or it might not.

Western U.S. Cellular License Map shows that Verizon does not have any license to cover the entire northeast corner of UT. Verizon has several options there, much like they have in many parts of the country: 1) They can buy one of the PCS licenses there, then build sites. 2) They can build their own cell site under Phase II ("unserved") rules. 3) They can depend on a roaming agreement with an existing carrier. Of these three, #3 is the cheapest for such a low-usage area.

if you look at the map south straight south Price the Cellular B network "VZW" is dead. I know there are very few villiages and people, but Western Wireless has it covered. looks like alot of Lake Powell is not covered either. Maybe a few miles of I-70 might be in UBET territory by the Colorado/Utah boarder. Other than that Verizon can build out anywhere else on I-70 |

Yes, VZW doesn't have a license for most of northeastern UT, hence WW/Cell One is in the PRL, but Bill says that VZW has no license to cover Grand County.

I was on I-70 by green river in march I was going off of Verizon coverage. The way there it was on and off still alot of patches could be alit better and alot worse as well. From Moab to Green River the coverage is very good I was accessing the internet from a T-mobile blackberry there.

In other UT news, I was pleasantly suprised at the level of service I had at Flaming Gorge this past weekend, on sid 1858. Good digital service most of the time.

Verizon is ok, it will go in and out of service if you're not using your phone, but I was using my phone from Crescend Junction(I believe that's what it's called) along I-70 up past the I-70/U.S. 6 junction and had no problems whatsoever with call quality/dropped calls, the only problem was it took forever for the call to connect at first.

There is no coverage from Montpeiler, ID until about 5 miles off of I-70 as you drive through cokeville and kemmerer. Then you get a VZW amps signal for a couple miles, then VZW digital. roaming on WW, you get a good is-95 signal in manila and on many spots on the water near lucerne valley marina. The antenna is on the bluff behind the trading post store in manila. |

Interesting, thanks Fathead. I never go out that way myself so I wouldn't know. ONe more question, were you able to use WW AMPS there at all?? There's conflicting reports of whether or not WW only runs CDMA on SID 1741, so I'm just wondering if you found anything. |
