Default MetroPCS in SF bay?

I'm looking for a new cell phone provider in the bay. I'm tired of worrying about my cell phone bill at the end of the month everytime I make a daytime call.

I'm thinking about moving to MetroPCS. They have a phone that I really like. It's the nokia 6255i. I am aware of metroPCs's limited service coverage. I could live with the small service area if their dropped calls, forced busy, and noise levels are not to bad. IF their service turns out to be really horrible, I wonder if I can still use the NOkia 6255i on the verizon network. I know they are the same technology, i just wonder if the nokia is unlocked and compatible if i decide to leave metro pcs for verizon.

You can use the Nokia 6255i on Verizon's network. Until released things like Get-It-Now (ringtones, wallpapers, games) won't work right now until the phone comes out for VZW.

Make sure the phone is unlocked. I not for sure if Metro PCS does lock the phone. If they do you will need the unlock security code they put on it, so the phone can be serviced to Verizon Wireless if you go back. Ask Metro PCS about their policy of phone locking.

My roommate has MetroPCS and he says that he gets decent service out where he lives (San Lorenzo/Oakland). However, he said coverage in Sacramento and Chico is pretty crappy. Also you have to pay extra for voice mail and caller id (which drives me up the wall since I'm never able to get ahold of him when I need to).
