The first symbol is the GPRS indicator, which basically tells you that data access is possible via GPRS. The second symbol is the "Roaming" triangle. Is this an unlocked, European or Asian version of the RAZR? If so, this indicator can show, even though you're not roaming. If you're not an AT&T customer, this could also show if you're out of your carrier's service area. The third indicator is the "Java" icon. This means a game that requires a Java engine to operate was recently played. Sometimes you need to reboot the phone to make the indicator disappear. This is a completely harmless icon.

Thanks a lot, Mike. Yeah, this looks to be a European phone. Stupid me, I got it on eBay and now I have couple annoying issues with it (and of course my eBay guy doesn't answer my emails.) The reason I needed to know what those symbols mean is because this Razr behaves really strange. When I power it on it sends a text message to the 453 number, which I get charged for every time it happens. I'm trying to eliminate it because it costs me about $5 each month. Do you have any idea what's going on with this phone and how to fix it? |

Another safeguard is to call AT&T and have them block texts. With the block enabled, even if your phone sends the auto text, it won't go anywhere and you won't be charged anything. Check the web for an English language owners manual for the phone. This should help with navigating through the Motorola menu tree.
