All carriers suffered outages as a result of the quake. Cell system were not designed to handle the increased traffic during such a time. When a quake hits everyone and their brother has to urge to pick up their phone and call their friends and family to say "did you feel the quake"?

Ain't it the truth. Fortunately things have gotten back to normal now. Metro was probably overloaded versus being down, per se. I stayed off my cell phones after the quake, as I knew their wouldn't be ANY service. This happened the last time we had a moderate shaker here.
