Alright I was wondering about memory cards for verizon phones. Does anyone know if they plan on making these anytime soon. And what I mean by this is each phone has a slot you can put a memory card in and it can transfer your numbers to the other phone. Like t-mobile and cingular has. It is such a pain to have to switch phones and put it in manualy. I know there are cables and you can get numbers transfered but this would be so much easier. So does anyone know if anything like this is coming out?? If this does not make sense I can explain more.

What's up, Ryan? You mean SIM Cards, not memory cards, Lol. No, Verizon won't be coming out with these soon, since SIM cards are only used by GSM networks, not by CDMA networks like Sprint and Verizon. TDMA also does not use SIM Cards, but no, this is a GSM only thing, Sorry! Let me know if this answers your question, Andy |

Well no I know that SIM cards dont work on CDMA and only on GSM. SIM Cards are also the thing that make the service work for you. I wish that CDMA network phones could have a card for just holding phone numbers and text messages. So in turn it does have the same concept as a SIM but if you didnt have one in a CDMA phone it could still work. You know how with a digital camera it has a memory card for storing pictures well I wish that there was a card like this just for phone numbers. Do you see where I am going with this???

I see were you are going with it. the problem is Verizon makes money of the phonebook transfers and data cables. Odds are we won't see U-RIM? cards (nokia' s have the slot already) unless Verizon starts loosing customers. |

I am trying to find out if it is possible to use a USA cell phone in Republic of Panama (central America). Having read some of the postings on this BB, I believe you can't change the SIM card in a (Verizon) LG VX6000, so presumably that one is out. I do have an old tri-band phone from UK though. It is a Motorola Timeport, that may be useable. Does anyone know how to go about it ? sanyan@mchsi.com |

CDMA phones do not use SIM cards, so that's out of the picture. If your old UK phone is unlocked it is usable. What bands does it have? Is it a dual band European phone(900/1800), or a tri-band(900/1800/1900)?? ~Andy |
