Hello all, I'm from Indiana and usually have outstanding reception with Verizon. However, I am part of a research project in Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge which is in NM, and my verizon phone gets next to no reception. I get one bar of "EV" whatever that is and one bar of "1X", so when I try to make a call it usually drops very quickly. What I really don't understand is other people in the same place as me that have Sprint and AT&T get pretty much full service. Is my phone not roaming for some reason? I have a LG Chocolate (VX8550) and the system select is set on automatic and I also am supposed to have "nation wide coverage". Any help or suggestions would be highly appreciated. |

sounds like you should get a at& T go phone for the area and forward your calls, you might check tmobile's coverage as well usually very similar to att, Verizon probably just doesn't have any service there and maybe no roaming agreement check with verizon first though give them a call and they can check on the coverage issue

| Actually, I was not aware that verizon did not allow roaming. Sorry I did not mean to start people bashing carriers, I just thought my phone might have been programed wrong or set on the wrong setting or something. Thanks

Also I didnt mean that you were bashing any carrier I just wanted to state this before people come in here and say how it is not good verizon blocks some markets is all. Anyways with every carrier there will be places you dont get service it just depends sometimes you are the minority and sometimes you are the leader. You can never have it all I dont care what carrier it is.

Very true, I just wanted to make sure there wasn't something wrong with my phone or its settings is all. I would hate for my phone to not be working simply because of my ignorance. Thanks for you help.
