Does anyone know if VZW users are able to roam off ACS or ASTAC in Barrow, Alaska? I'm planning a trip to the Arctic Ocean in March and was wondering if it would be worth my time bringing my CDMA bag phone or just the Iridium phone? Thanks in advance.

You should get analog roaming up there. CDMA might me up and running by now but I don't know for sure. Can you give a coverage report when you get back?

I went there last summer. Great trip. 100% sunshine. I brought a Sprint CDMA handset and a T-Mobile Motorola Pebl. Nothing. The Sprint handset saw analog coverage, but couldn't roam. The Pebl was dead the whole time. Just my $.02 |

ASTAC has some kind of coverage there ACS doesn't.

according to my research (Aka going to websites of different providers) None of the major carriers work in that city. i suggest just checking into it when you get there. Possibly a calling card |

I can't say I'm surprised T-Mobile doesn't work up there. Too rural.
