Southern Nevada Customers Can Make More Calls Media Contact Info Jenny Weaver Jenny.Weaver@VerizonWireless.com 480-763-6321 04/30/2007 LAS VEGAS, NV — Wireless users in southern Nevada are now experiencing increased coverage thanks to two new Verizon Wireless cell sites added in the first quarter. Network coverage and call capacity have been enhanced near: * Cal Nev Ari – Along Highway 95 * Las Vegas – Near the intersection of Highway 215 and the West Cheyenne Ave. interchange “Our expansion is tied to our commitment to provide the best possible wireless experience for customers. It’s just another way of ensuring that Verizon Wireless continues to be the leader in customer loyalty,*” said Tony Heyman, regional president of Verizon Wireless. “And now customers have the opportunity to Test Drive our network for themselves for 30 days, virtually risk-free by adding a new line of service.” In an industry first, Verizon Wireless is putting customers in the driver’s seat to take the nation’s most reliable wireless network for a spin. If at any point during the 30-day Test Drive customers are not satisfied with their experience and take their number to another wireless carrier, Verizon Wireless will refund their money for their calls, equipment, activation fee and taxes. Verizon Wireless has invested nearly $260 million in its wireless network in Nevada over the past six years to stay ahead of the growth in demand for our products and services and to ensure the most reliable network in the industry. The company has invested more than $37 billion in the last seven years – $5 billion on average every year since the company was formed – to increase the coverage and capacity of its national network and to add new services. Interesting that *only* two new cell sites were built in a capacity hungry area such as the Las Vegas Metro Area. While I have never experienced any issues with voice or data services on Verizon, 2 new cell sites seems a little low to keep up with the demand in a city like Vegas. Sprint, who also has great coverage through Vegas, activated 9 new cell sites within the last 3 months, with several new cell sites to come. I counted at least 4 new T-Mobile cell sites in the Vegas Metro Area within the last 30 or 90 days, and dozens of new Cingular sites(they needed it). Just interesting how Verizon's network must be wonderful down there for them to just activate two new sites in one quarter. |
