Default Sprint in Redding, CA

I'm just wondering how good Sprint's coverage is in Redding and the surrounding area. I will be visiting or moving to Redding, CA in a couple of months or so and I am curious to how good Sprint's coverage is in the area.

Larry or anybody else have any clue?

Overall the coverage is pretty good. It get a bit spotty on the far east side of town, but from what I remember it was still strong enough to make calls.

I wish I had some first hand personal experience on Redding but I don't. Coverage won't be quite as good as it is in Sacramento but it should be good enough to use in most places.

My friend in Redding has told me that Sprint isn't very good there but it's been quite some time since he has tried it there I believe. So I take that with a grain of salt. I've checked coverage maps of the area from Sprint's website and from what I can tell the coverage looks ok. I wouldn't say it looks good but I wouldn't say it looks bad to me either, just ok.

I know coverage won't be as good as it was in Sacramento, Sprint in that area is fantastic. In the metro area of Sacramento I've found that Sprint is actually a little bit better than Verizon. Remember Larry I did some traveling back in January and at the time I had Verizon and my Virgin Mobile phone with me which as you know uses the Sprint PCS network.

I was really surprised overall how well Sprint performed in the areas that I went to but I never made it up as far north as Redding so I can't speak for that area. In San Fran both Verizon and Sprint seemed to have roughly equal coverage to me. In Sacramento I found coverage to be actually a little bit better with Sprint and I found a place in Sacramento and in Roseville where my Verizon phone started to cut out but my Virgin Mobile phone at the time worked just fine. I was a bit disappointed in Verizon's network in Sacramento as it had some odd weak spots but Sprint worked everywhere I was at in the Sacramento area. I also managed to stay in Chico a few days where Verizon was quite a bit better, Sprint in Chico wasn't very good but it was tolerable.

One great thing about Sprint is the fact that they are still improving due to the synergy process. Coverage in Sacramento and the bay area have both gotten better even since January.

Redding is a former Ubiquitel market. Coverage there ranges from mediocre to poor. It's OK along the freeway and works acceptably in major retail areas, but you'll probably find yourself roaming on US Cellular a lot.

I live just over 150 miles away from there and let me tell you the coverag is not very weell with sprint verizon or nextel. The best you can honestly get there is AT&T/Cingular. They have the best digital service there is up there. Now Analog rules up there if you have a tri-mode phone for both Cingular and Verizon. but as far as digital goes, your better off with AT&T/Cingular. Sprint only covers the Highway and the main part of the city. As soon as you hit the outskirts there is no service. Where as Cinguar has full reception and you never drop a call. They have 3 networks to choose from up in that area. Cingular, T-Mobile, And Edge Wireless. So you are covered with GSM like no tomorrow.

The farther north you go with sprint this is how they get. I would not go with sprint in those areas. Anything north of chico is really bad.

Well some bad news, things were not coming along as planned so I will not be moving to Redding. I doubt I'll even visit there this year much less move at this time.

Thanks all though for the imput on Sprint's coverage in the Redding area.
