Does anyone know if my Tracfone will work in Alaska? I have a LG3280 cdma and my husband has a Net 10 GSM phone. We will be visiting Anchorage and the Kenai area in June and I am not sure if our phones are going to work. Thanks for your help

I fairly certain Net10 doesn't have a roaming agreement with Dobson. So the Net 10 phone will likely be a dead weight except for 911. The other tracfone will work, but will cost more. Here is all I could find on tracfone.com ![]() Quite possibly the worse coverage map I've ever seen but..... So it'll work but will cost at least double what it does now to use. Here is a link to ACS Wireless which provides CDMA service in Alaska http://www.acsalaska.com/NR/rdonlyre.../0/2006wcm.pdf

You could possibly get a simple freedom phone powered by alltell or just a basic verizon prepaid phone. They're pretty cheap at your local wal mart. I'm pretty sure bpth of those services are available in Alaska..hope this helps You could try t-mobile prepaid. I checked the coverage (prepaid) and coverage is available in both towns you mention...you can use this link to see for yourself http://www.t-mobile.com/coverage/prepaid.aspx Cingular Go Phone should also work there too....

The Net10 phone should have the same coverage as a Cingular contract plan, which is to say, yes, it should roam on Dobson, in Alaska.

It looks like Cingular only wants its prepaid on Native territory. That is an aweful coverage map for Trac. You may be able to pick up a Pre-Paid for one of the other MVNO's like Virgin, AMP'd etc. Dobson also has prepaids but I dont like the phone choices and I think they are over priced compared to the other companies. You have lots of options, good luck.
