Bill, I'm sure you might be interested in this article Verizon Wireless Expands Its Network, Adds Capacity In Colorado Springs and Peterson AFB Areas in Colorado Nation’s Leading Wireless Provider Stays Ahead of Growing Demand for Wireless Phone Service and Data Access Media Contact Info Bob Kelley Robert.Kelley@VerizonWireless.com 303-694-8990 12/17/2004 DENVER, CO — In a continuing effort to provide the best wireless service for local residents, Verizon Wireless, operator of the nation’s most reliable network, has expanded its wireless network in Colorado Springs. The new digital cell site is located directly north of Peterson Air Force Base. The cell site improves coverage and capacity on Peterson AFB, home of the 21st Space Wing, the Air Force wing responsible for worldwide missile warning and space control. The cell site also improves coverage along N. Powers Blvd. toward the Colorado Springs Municipal Airport and in the surrounding area. The new cell site is part of the Verizon Wireless’ aggressive multi-billion dollar network investment each year to stay ahead of the growing national demand for the company’s voice and data services, such as TXT Messaging, Picture Messaging, NationalAccess wireless Internet access and Get It Now® ring tones, games, productivity applications and more. ‘Test Man’ Isn’t Just a Character in Commercials The new cell site is also part of Verizon Wireless’ commitment to offer customers the most reliable wireless service available in the United States. The company’s ‘most reliable network’ claim is based on network studies performed by real-life test men and test women who inspired the company’s national advertising campaign. These test men and women are Verizon Wireless engineers who make more than 300,000 test calls monthly on Verizon Wireless’ and other national wireless carriers’ networks while they travel more than 100,000 miles nationwide in specially equipped, company-owned test vehicles. “This network expansion in Colorado Springs allows us to continue to stay ahead of the growing demand for wireless voice and data services in the area – for both individual customers and local businesses,” said Verizon Wireless Mountain Region President Jeff Mango. Verizon Wireless invests more than $4 billion each year on its nationwide network, enabling the company to offer customers the most reliable wireless voice and data network in the United States. * Test Man Ride-Along Program for the News Media Specially-equipped Verizon Wireless test vehicles simultaneously test the networks of as many as eight wireless providers, using a mobile laptop computer to generate phonically diverse “conversations.” If you are interested in setting up an interview or ride-along test drive with your locally-based Verizon Wireless test man or woman, please contact Bob Kelley at 303-694-8990. About Verizon Wireless Verizon Wireless owns and operates the nation’s most reliable wireless network, serving 42.1 million voice and data customers. Headquartered in Bedminster, NJ, Verizon Wireless is a joint venture of Verizon Communications (NYSE: VZ) and Vodafone (NYSE and LSE: VOD). I'm glad to see he's giving more detail. This site should improve coverage at the Colo Springs airport which shares the runways w/Peterson AFB. Thanks for the report, Andy. | |

I'm glad they are adding capacity, it seemed like everytime I was up there and tried to make a call it would get dropped, didn't matter what day or time, or where I was in the city. The time into the call would also very. Made me glad I had my Easyspeak phone with me at times so I could call if I needed to.
