Default Changing plan? 1-year contract w/Cingular

I just signed a 1-year contract with Cingular. Silly question that I could get answered if I call customer service, but don't want to sit on the phone:

Say a month or two into the contract I realize that I don't need nearly as many minutes as I'm paying for, can I change my plan?

Thanks!

You can change your plan anytime you want to. Depending on how far you're into the contract, it might be extended. I think if you are under six months into a contract it doesn't require an extention when changing plans but I'm not sure. You could ask if/when you call in to change your plan if it will require a contract extention or not.

Generally, they would love you to upgrade so they can extend the contract (though as Xikle says less than a certain period they might leave it alone).
However, they are usually not too excited about plan downgrades. Anytime it's less money they frown. Just a heads-up!
Please keep us posted with the outcome.
