Smile California: SB1627 Signed Into Law

9/29/2006

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger today signed into law
SB 1627 by Senator Christine Kehoe (D-San Diego). That Bill sets up guidelines for wireless site collocations.

The Bill, which started life as a much different piece of legislation, ended up being a useful tool for wireless carriers AND local governments.

I had the pleasure of serving as the technology advisor for the League of California Cities. Those of you who know me will see my fingerprints on the final language.

SCAN NATOA will be conducting training sessions on the Bill in December, just before it goes into effect. I'll be leading the training.

Jonathan

Very interesting about the new law. We have been working with T-mobile here in CA with their network infrastructure. They have been planning several changes to the old AT&T Wireless assets they got through the Cingular merger. This may speed those things along.
