Default T-Mobile loses a tower in pocatello

T-Mobile added a tiny cell on top of an old street light pole on W Quinn in pocatello about 2 years ago. Boosted coverage in a bad spot for most of the carriers in town.

The property was sold recently and the equipment removed very recently (it was there last thursday, but not yesterday). The pole is now also gone.

There aren't any other spots near there that would work for something new.

not sure if I agree with that, a repeater/booster can be very small and mounted nearly anywhere with some elevation.

Trust me in many cases it's a no go. I've seen some rich nimby areas here in so. cal that won't allow anything at all no matter how small it is.

Usually a carrier will sign a long term lease contract to keep the site up for a minimum of 5 years but usually 10 years. The lease will also have to be carried over if the property is sold. So I'm surprised T-Mobile didn't cover themselves better.

Have the compass maps been updated yet to show this loss of coverage?

Honestly it won't change coverage much. It was there to try to penetrate into some nearby businesses.

I agree Larry - this is very rare. But T-Mobile is a little more agressive/reckless sometimes. Maybe if it was just a little repeater they went ahead without the usual safety nets in the contract.

Another strong possibility is that it was temporary and they now have a full sized site going on the air.

They may have reoriented another tower that's about a mile away from the spot where they lost this one. They have had an awkwardly pointed antenna for a while up on the bench (why would you orient it away from the houses and towards empty sagebrush).
