| http://www.azcentral.com/community/a...er0610Z14.html Mountain Park Ranch HOA nixes T-Mobile cell tower in flagpole Geri Koeppel The Arizona Republic Jun. 10, 2006 12:00 AM T-Mobile's attempt to install a cellphone tower in Ahwatukee Foothills hasn't gotten good reception from the Mountain Park Ranch homeowners association. The company originally wanted to put a tower in a fake palm tree behind the Fry's Food Store at 3616 E. Ray Road. Residents complained it would look bad and block their views. Then in March, T-Mobile got word of an unused tower camouflaged in a flagpole in front of Ganem Jewelers at 3602 E. Ray Road. The HOA urged the company to try to use that. advertisement The company submitted plans to the Mountain Park Ranch homeowners association, saying it would need to widen the pole to 26 inches in diameter from 18 inches and increase the height to 50 feet from 45 feet, said T-Mobile area development manager Darcey Rushing-Estes. The HOA's architectural review committee rejected the plan. But T-Mobile is appealing to the committee, saying a competitor has a cell tower near Shurgard Self-Storage at 3906 E. Ray Road that is the same size it's proposing for the Ganem site. "We feel it's in line with what's already in the area," Rushing-Estes said. "There is a real flagpole not used for wireless purposes across the street from Ganem, and we measured that to be 50 feet tall." Welch said the committee would discuss the plan at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Mountain Park Ranch offices, 15425 S. 40th Place.

Cingular has an antenna in a flag pole in a mountainous golf community in north western South Carolina. Great fit into the community. |
