I just started service with T-Mobile, after being with Verizon for years. I can't figure out how to change my voice mail notifications on my phone or my friend's phone. Basically, if I have a voice mail message, I get a text message sent to me telling me how many unheard messages I have. It's kind of annoying because I have to actually read it and delete it. Way too many steps considering I've used carriers that simply have a flashing indicator when you have mail waiting and goes off when you've listened to them - ALL AUTOMATICALLY. I'm wondering if this is a T-Mobile specific trait or whether it's something that I can customize. This is on a SE Z600 and was also tested on a Nokia 6010. Also, do you get charged for these incoming text messages? |

They can't give you the choice b/c it's a setting in the voice mail system, not the account. MWI is only used in the former Powertel market in the SE US. They could use MWI if they wanted to.

I wonder if T-Mobile receives a lot of inquiries/complaints about it. It would seem to me that it's an inconvenience worth looking into. I'm just guessing. I suppose it would take a major overhaul to change something like that.

I'm really not sure why people make such a big deal about it. To me, it is a little cooky, but really not bad. I listen to the voicemail, and then delete the text message when done. No big thing...

A similar thread exists in the T-Mobile users forum. It is annoying but it doesn't look like they'll change it anytime soon. I've gotten used to it. Not particulary thrilled with it, but it is definately not a deal breaker.
