Santa Cruz people seem to be a breed of their own. I can't believe they would create all this fuss about a 30 foot antenna disguised as a tree and a very good one. This is at least the third time that Santa Cruz residents have tried to stop a Sprint antenna in the past 2 years. One was denied and one more is still pending. Well at least they got one by. The only city in CA that's worse is Berkeley.

Yeah in a tough area like Santa Cruz even getting one site approved is a huge deal and can make a big difference.

...ordinance to prove that the company doesn't already have coverage? *boggle*

Okay, time to get out my protective SAC armor (Sarcasm, Acerbity and Cynicism)... ahhhhhhh.

Yes, I think spending the council's time and money on the ordinance requiring proof that a wireless company doesn't already have coverage in an area before a new tower can be approved is a wonderful idea. Santa Cruz is such a wonderful place that this is far and away the most important issue the council have to work on - all the other problems were solved by the people mentioned in the article.

Besides, you know those wireless companies. They can't stand just having one tower, and those faceless corporate shills always lie to the truth-seeking public like Stephanie Michel and Marilyn Garrett. They really already do have coverage everywhere in Santa Cruz, but their secret plan is to give everyone in the whole town brain tumors - well worth the $250,000 to $400,000 it costs to put up a tower, and never mind the companies' bottom lines!

What a shame that the heroic citizens of the Santa Cruz Antenna Moratorium are there to stop this senseless redundancy!

...argh.

Brain tumors....give me a break!!! Santa Cruz residents need not worry about cellular antennas. Your best chance of getting "fried" or "brain cancers" comes from heavy use of marijuana, coke and heroin. Of course, we know that people in Santa Cruz don't do these things.
