NIMBYS are annoying. Report after report comes out showing no link between adverse health effects and cell towers, yet they continue to argue against them.

Maybe we should take away cell phones from NIMBYs? Nah...that would be a "cruel & unusual" punishment

I only have one thing to say--GOODLUCK! I go to University of California, Berkeley and I can tell you from first hand experience that this city is nuts. A few semesters ago (so maybe a year and a half ago), Berkeley's city council did not allow a certain phone carrier (the name escapes me at the moment) to erect phone towers. What was the city council's reason? They believed that cell towers would bring.....get this.... more violence and crime to the neighborhood?!?!? How they found a correlation between cell towers and crime--I'm not too sure. But I can tell you one thing, the reception in Berkeley is horrible! It doesn't matter what carrier you have (I've had 2), there are many dead spots. |

Once again I want to ask any Sprint users or anybody in Berkeley or the Bay area at all to please e-mail the mayor and city council of Berkeley and show some support for this antenna located at 1600 Shattuck Avenue. Even if you don't use Sprint this will set a precedent that will help ALL carriers improve in Berkeley in the long run if they vote to sustain the approval. The Council meeting to rule on this will be on March 25th. Here are the e-mail address to write to: mayor@ci.berkeley.ca.us spring@ci.berkeley.ca.us breland@ci.berkeley.ca.us shirek@ci.berkeley.ca.us hawley@ci.berkeley.ca.us gwozniak@ci.berkeley.ca.us worthington@ci.berkeley.ca.us clerk@ci.berkeley.ca.us gourmetghetto@yahoo.com |
