Just wondering if a VZW phone will work on USCC? They seem to offer the same phones. Let me know if it would. Thanks

What do you mean when you say I may want to go with a company other than Verizon?

Where are you located? Coming from Verizon, you will have to be in an area where USCC is running CDMA Digital. Currently, they are running CDMA in some markets, TDMA in others, and in some, they are running both of the digital techonologies along with AMPS(analog). They are in the process of overlaying CDMA onto all their existing TDMA markets(like here in Northern California and in Eastern Idaho)across the nation, but that process will take into next year sometime. I would suggest going to www.uscc.com, plugging in your zip code, then selecting phones, if they come up as CDMA(ie.VX10, CDM9500, V120C), you're good to go, if they come back as TDMA(ie.V60T, V120T, Nokia 5165), you will probably have to wait until they have CDMA officially up and running in your area.

Yes, they are the CDMA branded phones. My quetsion is this though. I know that Qwest cells CDMA phones, but they don't necessarily work on VZW. However ALLTELL phones WILL work on Verizon. So, do you think the VZW ones would work on USCC or would they need to be flashed, and all that. I know VZW doesn't lock their phones, so that part shouldn't be a problem.

I don't see a problem with going to USCC with either your VX10 or V60i, they should be able to activate them just fine. I just noticed your zip code, it's Provo, UT zip, US Cellular doesn't provide service in UT, though they do to the north in Twin Falls, Burley, Pocatello, Idaho Falls, Ashton and the surrounding areas, are you moving to a USCC market?

Oh, no, it is for a family member in Washington. Zip Code 98823. There rates look really good. I assume their coverage is as well. I know they cator to the more rural areas, and I assume in the larger areas, they run off of VZW, is that right?

It depends, if you're coming from a USCC CDMA market, they will usually run off of Verizon in large cities, but coming from a USCC TDMA market, you will roam off of AT&T or one of their affiliates(Edge Wireless, Suncom)
