Recently, I purchased a tri-band Motorola V60 during my trip to Asia, and like it very much. Back home in San Jose CA, I already have a Samsung S105 using T-mobile. Last night, I placed the T-mobile sim card from the S105 phone to the V60, it only found Cingular!! and with roaming too!! Now I was told that T-mobile uses the Cingular network in the west coast. So how do I get onto T-mobile, without roaming, using my V60??? I'm really new to this whole wireless stuff. Appreciate any help. |

T-Mobile and Cingular use the same network here. If you bought a phone that is not branded T-Mobile, the network registration will say Cingular. If you are in California or Nevada and your phone says Cingular, you are on T-Mobile's network as well and won't be charged roaming. The only way to fix it would be to have T-Mobile flash your phone's firmware, which is a bit silly. My P280, branded "VoiceStream", says "Cingular" here in California. Honestly, don't worry about it.
