I recently moved from Long Beach, CA to Riverside, CA. My number is an (562) area code. Now that I moved to Riverside which is 40miles from Long Beach (roughly) i'm having a problem with recieving calls with Verizon. In and around the apartment I moved into my Kyocera 2235 shows maximum bars for signal however, at times throughout the day and throughout the night...I don't recieve calls. Full signal bars but the calls go straight to voicemail. My roommate has the same phone with verizon and a neighbor friend has a moto v60 and has the same problem. Not all the calls do this...but when I woke up yesterday at 10am I had 4 voicemails but no missed calls........it never rang. Also when I shut off and restart the phone it still doesn't remedy the problem. I found that calling 611 and hearing the announcement sayign "welcome to verizon wireless" ...then hanging up "wakes up" the phone and allows calls to go through. What do you guys think it is.............? I'm having cingular flashbacks here. Have they oversold their network? Thanks in advance.... Alex.M. |

one thing to keep in mind is that the signal indicator isnt the most accurate thing in the world. if your phone is not recieving calls it means that the cell towers dont have enough signal to your phone to have a phone call. remeber it takes less signal to send the notification than it does the recieve a call. it also takes less signal strength to make a call than recieve a call. You may see minor improvements by geting a local number, but i dont think it will fix the problem entirely. i would also update your prl *228 snd option 2. if multiple phones are having this problem, i would say that its the area that you are in, not your phone

Also might want to try power cycling the phone a few times a day as you can get logged out of the network sometimes.

the tech support dude once told me to use *18 on my 2235, it didn't really work. i dont think that *18 works in cali. also, just yesterday i called tech support to change esn. he told me there's this new #min thing. didn't work either. a coworker has at&t, and she got cut off when talking to people. so she called support, they say to 'reboot' your phone. what happen is that she's been traveling to LA then back to SB here. for some reason it messed things up. it works fine now. since you moved too, might worth a try power off/on the phone. although it's vzw, but sounds similar like my coworker story. |
