I have an unlocked phone not purchased with my at&t plan. I place the at&t sim card in the phone and it recognizes the network and can make calls, but it wont receive calls. In fact, when I try calling my phone, it'll ring once then nothing. What is the problem and what do you offer for a solution? Ricky |

If you're able to place calls, chances are that it is not your SIM card. I have an unlocked Samsung S105 on my AT&T GSM service, and am able to use it just fine. The way it was explained to me is that AT&T Wireless has their systems set up to first look on their digital, or TDMA service for the active account for the dialed number, and if no account is found, it "transfers" the call to the GSM system (all done within the blink of an eye and unknown to the caller/wireless user). If the part of your service that tells their system to "transfer" the call to GSM is not there, callers will get a message saying that the phone is disconnected and will not ring through to the phone, but you're still able to place calls in the meantime. Easiest, and probably quickest way, to find out if its that or something else is probably to call their customer service and have them check things with your phone and account. |
