Default Texting other (Sprintpcs)

I hate to ask the same questions but, I need to know. I'm going to be buying a sprint phone soon. I know you can text out to others however, can other carriers text you? I know I need to sign on to the web(not sure if I like that) but as long as AT&T and Verizon can text me.

Where I am (Portland, Oregon), as long as the other guys cell phone is SMS capable, all we have to do is send the message to the cell number. This has been confirmed to work from VZW to Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Nextel.

I also live in Portland Oregon, and text message my friends in Florida and California (Cingular) and California and Oregon (ATT and Verizon). So in that aspect it can be done....it didnt used to be so..Sprint and T-Mobile, and many others, were Carrier Specific, but since the Number Portability law went through, it seems that many cool, and new things are happening with mobile phones, and SMS, and MMS messages. Its becoming Europe all over again here.

As for sending messages overseas...YES!! It too can be done, unfortunately, you need PC access! As far as I know, it still doesnt work on Sprint PCS. There are many sites under google.com search

I recommend...

www.textmefree.com

They have worldwide sites, and many countries, some you sign up for, some you dont, and most of them are FREE, and UNLIMITED. The only downside, is if you find one thats Free and Unlimited, you might have to know the service carrier...and let me tell you, that shouldnt be too hard, but depending what country, it can be a pain in the ___!

Hope this helps you out lots..

Roger
