My mother has a Nokia 5165 and I'm trying to buy an external antenna for her. It's a tri-mode phone so I'm not sure if it's using 800 or 1900. The antenna is for home so I'd prefer a stationary directional antenna. But they are frequency specific. Anyone know what frequency AT&T is using for TDMA on O'ahu? |

asatoran, AT&T is using TDMA on 800 MHz on the islands. They also have 1900 MHz licenses there, but will probably limit those frequncies to their GSM network, for the time being. -Bill |

Correct on all accounts. AT&T will also be taking over Cingular's Kaui coverage, so AT&T will now cover all 4 Major islands in Hawaii. Change over should occur mid to late 2003. GSM for AT&T will stay at 1900MHz for a while, they have tested GSM at 850MHz, but have not put it out to market yet, nor have I seen plans for them that I can find... DCinSEA |
