Default Which provider best in San Diego area?

    Hi,

I just moved to the San Diego area from NYC and am wondering who is the best provider, and what speakerphone you would recommend? I currently have AT&Ticon with a StarTac phone, and am getting terrible reception.

    Thanks a lot,
    Marina

Most everyone will tell you Verizonicon and they're probably right.

Default Which provider best in San Diego area?

Hi There. I live in San Diego There is No real winner however I have used AT&Ticon, Cingular, Sprint, NEXTEL (for work), and now Verizonicon and I would have to say that Verizonicon is my 1st choice followed by Cingular as my second choise. I have never tried T-Mobile but I hear they share cell sites with Cingular. I wouldn't reconsider AT&Ticon or Sprint and wouldn't get Nextel if I had to pay for it. Enjoy

It does seem that Verizonicon is number one in San Diego coverage, and everyone will debate who is second best. But everything depends on where you are going to use the phone- San Diego's hills and valleys make some wide variations in coverage.

Verizonicon is generally the most expensive, so you might want to investigate whose system is almost as good around your specific area of the county. I actually found that ATT works well where I am- the SDSU/La Mesa area. Also works well in National City. But that does not seem to be your experience.

Default Which provider best in San Diego area?

    Hi All,

I too am looking for a provider in the San Diego area. It sounds like Verizonicon has the best coverage in this area from what I have read here so far. I have another question though. I would also need to make calls back to the east coast (Boston, MA) so I would also need a service plan that offers free long distance or maybe roaming ??? I'm not sure what the difference between these two is. Also, free nights and weekends would be great. Any ideas of service plans or phones that I should be inquiring about at Verizonicon (or any other provider that would offer this type of comprehensive plan) ??? Thanks !!!

"Which provider best in San Diego area?"

Verizonicon seems to best in coverage, but as far as prices/bang-for-buck go, it doesn't seem like a good value. I haven't had serious problems with reception w/ Sprint PCS, AT&T, Cingular, Tmobile, or Verizonicon (never tried Nextel) so I would go for the best price.
