Default La Canada, CA -- T-mobile or Sprint? Saw some good deals, thinking of switching.

Hi,

I've been suffering under a zero-to-one-bar level of reception at my home in La Canada from ATT for a while now, and seeing some good deals on free higher-end phones from Sprint and T-mobile has got me thinking of changing.

Before I make a choice, I'd be greatly appreciative if anyone could let me know what their experience has been like with Sprint or T-mobile in the La Canada/La Crescenta area! It may be the age and wear and tear on my phone combined with other factors, but I get a frustrating amount of 0-1 bar level areas.

Here are the deals, if anyone's curious:

From Sprint I see:
Sanyo SCP4900 for free after MIR
N400 for $129.98. w/$80 MIR
A460 for $99.98 before any rebates, for -$20 after MIR
(All deals at Circuit City)

And from T-mobile:
Motorola C332 for -$100 after MIR
Sony Erricson t68i cell phone $24.99 after MIR
(Both at Amazon.com)

Go for the Sanyo 4900 from Sprint.....you'll have 14 days to return it if you don't like it. Also Sony-Ericsson has the new t608 coming to sprint soon. Looks Goodddd....

I remember Sprint not sucking in Montrose, where my office is, and I have it on good authority that their coverage has improved, but their customer service seems not to have improved.

T-Mobile have decent coverage. There used to be a dead spot on the 2 between Mountain and the 210, and another on the 210 at La Tuna, but both are gone. In-building coverage varies, of course, based on your proximity to a tower.

Try both for the trial period. Return one.

For T-Mo, I hear good things about the Moto V60 and the Samsung S105. For Sprint, I hear good things about the Sanyo 4900.

Let us know what you choose.

Look under www.sprintsites.com for cell towers in your area. I didn't see any in LaCanada or LaCresenta.

I live near the upper end of LC just west of the 2. I tried ATT and could not get any bars at my house. My friends have Cingular, which is the same towers as T-mobile, and they HATE it. I don't know about Sprint, but I now have Verizon and am very happy with it. By the way Verizon has some great offers out now on service plans, I'd check them out.

Most sites are not listed on there. Many of Sprint sites are co-located with other carriers and mounted on rooftops and buildings. That site basically lists freestanding towers which are being offered for co-location purposes. It can't be used as a tool to determine whether or not a city has coveage.
