Default Subsidy password

Hello all! This is my first time on here, but reading the posts tells me that the people here are friendly and willing to help. So here is my question: I have a Moto v70 that was on the Cingular network and I want to use it on my T-mobile network, but it keeps asking me for a "subsidy password." Can anyone give me a password or direct me to a place where I can get one? Thanks!! "Tha Dawg"

I've heard that T-mobile can *sometimes* give you the the unlock code for other providers phones. I've heard on howardforums that a few people were able to get this...

If I understood correctly, you have a phone working with cingular and would like to use it with T-mobile. Well, if that is the case, you'll have to get the unlock code from Cingular and not from T-mobile. I don't think T-mobile gives the unlock code for phones locked by another carrier. However I read somewhere that T-mobile was able to provide unlock code to someone who had the phone with AT@T/cingular(I'm not sure)

I read that too... perhaps is an algorithm that is used in conjunction w/ the IMEI # of the phone or something

there are two lock codes that are used. One is the "one time subsity" lock code....and its just what it says...the code can only be used once to program a phone..after the the code is useless. Then you have the "master subsity lock" code This one can be used over and over again to program phones. Each phone as a lock code that is specific to its esn. The only way to get this code is to call your provider and ask. Some providers wont give it to you, while some will.

I am in a similar situation but opposite. I have a T-Mobile phone that I want to use with AT&T. I thought since the phone was previously on t-mobile I had to get the code from them but the rep I talked to said I had to get the code from AT&T. Does this sound right or should I call back and make sure I get someone who knows what to do?
Thanks.

Just from past experience, I have learned that AT&T is not the type of company to give out unlock codes. Don't expect them to give you one if you ask them.

To use a unlocked T-Mobile phone on AT&T, you need not do anything but get an AT&T sim card, if they want to give you just the sim card and not make you buy a new phone. You can ask all you want for a lock code from AT&T they will not give you one. Spend 10-20 and get it unlocked. T-Mobile will unlock their phone after a month or two.

Who to call for a code: If the phone was originally sold by T-Mobile then call them. If it was AT&T need not bother they will not give it to you. I don't know about Cingular.

You were given bad info. Only T-Mobile can give you the unlock code for the T-Mobile lock. Get them to help you unlock the phone. After that, you should be able to drop in any carrier's SIM (including ATT)

T-mobile does unlock any unlocked gsm phones if you tell them you want to use the locked phones with t-mobile service, you have to email t-mobile with your IMEI, billing name, cell #, and last 4 digits SSN. I've done it myself, it took about a week.
