I do not think it will matter on a network with 1X, I thought it would force EVRC on the phone. |

The network can force a specific vocoder regardless of what your phone is set to use. There really isn't all that much difference between 13k and EVRC (to my ears anyway) -- except that EVRC dampens background noise much better than 13k. (IMO, iDEN's current vocoder -- the one used on the i85s/i90c/etc. -- is best at getting rid of background noise, and GSM's is the worst.) -SC
