Again, I would like to thank all of you who gave me advice in my other thread and it looks like I will be choosing between these two. Anyone who has used one or both of these please provide me with your experiences. I will be checking in from time to time to make my decision. I would like to make my decision and have my new cell phone by next weekend, yikes!!!!! This is what I want in a cell phone. I want the best coverage in general. I know everyone will have holes in service, I guess I just want the least amount of holes. I want the best digital coverage and want to avoid using analog as much as possible, though analog is better than nothing! I will be using my phone 99% of the time in Southern California, more specifically in Orange County. I do travel sometimes up and down our great state and go to neighboring states. Every year or so I also travel to the east coast. So, nationwide digital coverage is a plus but again Southern California is where I will be mainly. Please tell me Sprint or Verizon and which phone I should get. Thank you everyone for your opinions and advice. David |

I would suggest Verizon as the best coverage in OC, Socal, and will give you more areas of coverge than Sprint will.

David, this was a hard choice for me as well. I chose Verizon and went with the America's Choice two year contract and I have the Motorola V60i phone. So far I'm happy with it. I get dropped calls by my house, but every wireless carrier either drops or has no service up here. I have also dropped calls in Anaheim Hills, I don't know how the other carriers are over there. Verizon is supposed to have the best network in southern Cali and I believe it. As far as Sprint goes I think they would be my second choice and I don't know if they are as good or better than Verizon right now, comparing only their digital networks. Hope this helps.

I agree with Rasputin to say that Verizon is your best choice. Sprint has improved to a close second but in the end I know that Verizon has the total package going on...

Since he claims to be from Germany I don't think he would be able to answer that question.

Hey Larry, I hear you are the Sprint guru around here!!! How do the two compare to each other in Southern California? I want to make my choice between the two no later than this weekend. David |

Honestly I don't know much about Verizon because I haven't used them since 1997 when they were called Airtouch Cellular. At that time they were not very good around here. That's why I switched to Sprint. Of course back then all cell service was not very reliable. It has greatly improved with all carriers the last 5 years. Sprint has a better selection of phones than Verizon does. Verizon probably has a little better coverage in buildings and the less populated areas of CA. |

Thank you everyone for replying to my thread. I'm gonna make my decision based on this question. Which, out of the two, has the better coverage in Anaheim Hills and also driving through Trabuco Canyon (El Toro Rd down to Southern Orange County)???

I saw your post on Howards Forum, the database crashed while I was replying to you, so I will reply to you here. I have had good coverage all over Anaheim hills with Verizon. I thought there were a few dead spots on Sprint, but my knowledge around there is about a year old, so maybe Sprint has been able to fix those areas.

I live right on the border of Orange and Anaheim Hills. Sprint did add two antennas in the past year. One at Nohl Ranch Rd & Nohl Canyon Rd across from the elementary school. The other is at the intersection of Meats & Nohl Ranch Rd. I almost always get good coverage where I go with a few exceptions such the higher elevations up Weir Canyon Rd. and the 241 toll road. This is a tough area for anyone to cover.

Hye: I was at my uncle's house last week and not only did my VZW phone drop to analog it dropped the call!!! I don't know how they are on E.T. Rd down into Irvine, Trabuco Canyon and south OC? Good luck with your decision, it was a tough one for me! |

I've posted in your other posting, but I'll post here too! My husband works in South County (specifically El Toro) & we tried Cingular & ATT...but my husband could NEVER get service while he was at work. The M2M minutes were worthless since he couldn't contact me. Since getting VZW, we have clear calls, no reception problems & can use our M2M! The 241 area still sucks, but I guess it'll take a miracle for any company to access this area appropriately. Jodi

Try Verizon out first in the area's you're looking for service. They have a Worry Free Guarantee which will give you 15 days from the time of purchase to evaluate their service. If you're not satisified, simply return it! The only thing you would have to pay for was the airtime you've used. And while Sprint has some VERY NICE PHONES, i feel their service isn't quite up to par with Verizon. Let alone Sprint's customer service, it's horrible. (it costs $3 to talk to a customer rep) |

It actually does cost $3 to talk to a rep in some markets. Not sure of the specifics, but I know that customer service fee does exist. I personally would never pay a cent to speak to those people. Everyone should just call stores from now on. They are usually more knowledgable anyway.

HAving tried just about every service over the last 12 years I find that VErizon's coverage and customer care is the best. Coverage was paramount for me. Too many dropped calls with Sprint. I've been happy with Verizon for the last 2+ years. Good luck! |

Thanks for all the replies guys. I have decided on Verizon after reading all your replies and especially after reading the article on MSN. I will start a new thread on which phone I should get on Verizon, but again thanks for the advice. David |
