Question for all you gurus of the services... I was in talking to a rep at a business to business retailer for providers and had a salesman try to tell me that Alltel was a subsiderary of Verizon. He basically told me that Alltel was using Verizons network and they don't have any of thier own equiptment. Would anyone who knows about this let me know what the answer is and if they are the same company or if they are separate. Thanks

Only in the older PCS markets do VZW and Alltel have any association with the two, Alltel does use alot of the VZW network and Visa Versa.

Sad thing is I was an Alltel Customer for 12 years, (formerally GTE Wireless until 2000=2001) When I moved to West Palm Beach the sales rep gave me the same story about Vizon owing Alltel in the state of Florida which is not the case. The west coast of Florida was old GTE, north florida allthe way to Macon, GA, to Mobile Alabama has been for years, and Jacksonville is a 1900 PCS band started when they renamed the gator Bowl to Alltel Stadium. the only place they are not in florida is the east coast and Orlando.

ALLTEL and Verizon are 2 different companies. ALLTEL has their own network, switches, towers, and etc...

Thanks guys for your answers. I didn't think he was right, but he was a very cocky arrogant guy and I didn't feel like pushing him at the time. Guess I won't be going back to that place anytime soon.
