Default T-mobile roaming report

Hi everybody

I am back from T-mobile country (=Germany :-) and here are some further roaming experiences:

I roamed on D1 (T-mobile Germany) and I also used my D1 prepaid card.

- as stated previously coverage is excellent.

- Driving on the freeways I almost always had full reception, sometimes only 3 "bars" and if reception was really "bad" it dropped to 2 "bars"

- also most of the train tracks are covered. Some trains have repeaters in them (mention that esp. for Iluvsocal, the train fan:-)

- in the subways in Berlin I had good reception, in Hamburg only on certain lines.

-------------------------------------

Some issues esp. for other T-mobile customers:

it appears that tm phones are always unlocked for tm networks/sims. I was able to just take my tm phone (not unlocked, i.e., locked P-280) from the US and put my German D1 sim card in there. It accepted it and I was able to make phone calls no problem. I also used other D1 sims from friends and I could use all of them in my US phone.

The only thing that did not work was using GPRS with my US phone and D1 sims due to different data profiles.

However, GPRS roaming (my US phone and US sim) worked without any problems.

So far

C.

PS: Edited message title to make it clearer what I am talking about :-)
