Default Motorola v60i or Samsung a310?

I am ready to upgrade from my timeport. Between the v60i and a310, which is the better phone? I have heard good and bad things about both. CNET and Verizon sales reps seem to be really high on the v60i, but many of you believe that the a310 could be better. Can anyone provide some anecdotes about their experiences with either phone so this here consumer can make the most informed choice?

Thanks in advance!

Default Motorola v60i or Samsung a310?

Hey, i just got a an a310. I've only had it for a few days, but so far i really like it. My dad has a v60, and i like the a310 simply because the display is larger, and there are a lot of extra features (cool display/colors) that i personally like that don't relate specifically to functionality. But with animations and changing lcd colors, i chose it over the v60. Plus like i mentioned before, the display is larger and i think easier to navigate through.

i would choose the a310 over the v60 because it is lighter, feels more solid, and overall the functionality is better. ive heard some people say the voice quality is lacking on the a310 but i haven't noticed it at all and its not enough to deny the phone.

Default Motorola v60i or Samsung a310?

I currently have the a310 and am a couple days away from the end of my 15 day trial period; I plan on taking advantage of it by trading in the a310 for either the v60i or T720. Up until today, I haven't had any real problems with the phone, except for the usual complaints about the ring tones--but nothing that I would seriously consider returning the phone for. There have been reception issues with this model and for the most part, I didn't pay much attention to it, since I wasn't experiencing anything unusual. There's a post in the Samsung forum on whether or not the phone vibrates in silent mode or not. I decided to try it out by calling my own #. I tried three times in a row, all times, the phone showing at least three bars, and the call went straight to voicemail! I tried calling again a few hours later only to end up with the same result.

The a310 is a great phone, feature wise. I love the colors on the external LCD and the larger internal screen and backlight. Menus are fairly easy to navigate. Contrary to what some say, the voice quality wasn't bad and the sound was about right; I even found it to be a bit loud at times, which in those cases, I just reduced the volume. But another downside is that the battery life is a bit screwy! I charged it fully this morning. Within an hour, it went down one full bar. And now it's down to one...I haven't even used it all day! It's lasted longer before, why is it acting up all of a sudden?? (This is with at least three full drains/recharges.)

Just giving you a heads up if you do decide to purchase the a310. I'd be pretty upset if I were past my 15 day return policy and found this out (unless Verizon would still replace it after the 15 days??) I recently switched to Verizon from Cingular. And the only reason I did was because I wasn't getting any service in my apt (i.e. calls would go to VM). Now that I do have service (excellent, I might add) in my home, it doesn't make any difference if your phone makes your calls go straight to VM when it shouldn't. I haven't tried the v60i yet, so I can't comment on it. After having the a310 though, I'm a little hesitant to go back down to a smaller screen.

Default Motorola v60i or Samsung a310?

i have had a v60i for about 2 months now, and i must admit it is my favorite phone! i have had quite a few phones, and the v60i kincks butt! although i wish it had a color screen, the phone is great. its soze is perfect, fits in my pocket wonderfully, even with the extended battery (larger size) on. i get great reception (of course, i DO have Verizon) and the volume on both the speaker and the ringer is nice and loud. my girlfriend has a v60c, also through verizon, and she has broken her antenna a couple times, i have not had any problems with mine.... and believe me, it SHOULD have broken by now with some of the bends i have given it! also, i usually get a bar MORE than her phone when we are side by side, so kudos to the v60i.

as for the a310, i have never actually used one, but i know the people who i have known that used one have never really been happy with battery life (who ever is, though, but the a310 seems to eat batteries like crazy). the v60i's menu is extremely easy to navigate, and fully customizable, with the smart key on the side and the two hot keys programmable to launch various app's, such as games (which, honestly, SUCK on the v60i- my only despair with this phone), calculator, datebook, etc.... customizable faceplates... a great phone!

Default Motorola v60i or Samsung a310?

Judos,
Radio Shack is having a sale on the v60's (both c & i=same price), so I upgraded from the Timeport. First, there has never been a display as good as the Timeport's. Every Samsung I have seen did not last very long. I have little reason to believe this one will be anyt different.

So far, once I get used to the dimmer screen, there has not been any disappointment with the v60i. Once you are used to Motorola quality, it's hard to be satisfied with other brands.

We posted a complete review about upgrading from the StarTac to the v60 at:

Upgrading to the v60

Bill,

Your link is bad... you need to add the "e" in wireless to your URL.
