Default T-Mobile: coverage in the future?

So far, T-Mobile's coverage has expanded about 33% this year, going from about 150 million covered persons to today's 200 million with the launch of Buffalo, Rochester, and Virginia. Their total coverage as shown on their website includes some free roaming, for a total coverage area of 208-210 million by my estimate.

T-Mobile has licenses for 97% of the US. I don't know specifically how much additional coverage they will add - it won't be on the same scale as this year - maybe 20-30 million. There aren't many large metro areas left they don't have coverage.

There are about 283 million people in the US. Verizon is about 260 million and the leader AFAIK.

These numbers are all industry standard terminology using POPs - it's not gegraphical coverage.

Default T-Mobile: coverage in the future?

t-mobile/voicestream just launced the richmond/norfolk, VA markets and the Clevland, OH market. Now all of th ohio is covered. They are working o the Highways throughout Illinois to connect all of the midwest. Also keep a look out for Ft. Myers, FL...naples, FL is already done. New Orleans ws just launched not to long ago too. The big project is to connect philly to denver via I70 and then into California.

Yeah they seem to be expanding about the same rate as Sprint was 2 years ago.

I enjoy reading your posts. You seem to have good insight into t-mobile. Just a guy we need for tm and what most other providers already have

Do you have any information about how much priority the improvement of existing coverage areas and not just the coverage of more square-miles has???

When I used to be a Cingular customer and complained about coverage in e.g. Berkeley they have always just said "our map shows excellent coverage in your area" and nothing happened. By now I have given up even asking for possible improvements.

And it is no secret that the Cinglebar/TM GSM network in the Bay Area has a lot of room for improvement...
