Default UK prepaid SIMs

Anyone know how to go about getting a pre-paid SIM for the UK from a provider such as Orange. They seem to have something called "Pay as you go" - can I get that while I am still in the US? Will they ship to the US?

Caliph....do they give good US calling rates though? On Orange website with "pay as u go" I noticed the rate to call US is 15p/min - which is fantastic.

There are plenty of websites of online providers, they might ship to you. I don't know of the kiosks at Heathrow, but I imagine that you would be able to find a pay as you go phone with Orange there. As an Orange customer myself, I do recommend them!

I would imagine that the Orange kiosk sells you the same rates as the Orange website...

I am trying to recall if I actually have seen orange there... I am sure Vodafone had one and O2 (BT)... But in general it is very easy in Europe to find a cell phone store. I don't have any experience with ordering prepaids from over here.

I just went through Gatwick Airport and I believe they have the same kiosks as well. Orange or Vodaphone Sims should be availiable everywhere at your point of entry...

prepaid phones are locked in Europe and won't be unlocked for two years.

phones on with a contract are typically not locked.
