Default I called tmo's customer service the other day.....

Ok so i moved to Bakersfield CA (2 hrs north of LA) and needed to get my number changed. I tried putting an invisible logo ontop of the Tmobile but it wouldn't let me b/c i was roaming. So i figured when i get my number changed to a CA number it would not be roaming ne more rite? WRONG! The guy says that im roaming on Cingular's network b/c TMOicon hasn't completely purshased the towers for 6 yrs yet or w/e. He said that most ppl juz think they are tmobiles network b/c it says Tmobileicon and not cingular. So i asked when i wouldn't be roaming on Cingular so i could put on my logo and he said he didn't know...TMOBILE AT ITS FINEST!

From what I've heard, Cingular's towers will be T-Mobiles on Janurary 1, 2005. AT&Ticon's will be Cingulars. (merger thing)

T-Mobileicon will take control of the Cingular network in CA/NV sometime after the AT&Ticon/Cingular merger closes - that will be this fall, but there's no set date for the TM/Cingluar transition yet, but it probably won't be until 2005. In any event, there won't be overnight changes anyway. Network settings have to be changed in order to change the broadcast ID from Cingular to T-Mobileicon. It will happen eventually, but IIRC it took about a year for T-Mobileicon to changed the broadcast ID for all of the networks they bought (VoiceStream, Powertel, Aerial, etc.)

On old SIMs and non-T-Mobile-branded phones it took until last year for all of the old broadcast IDs to be reset... I didn't see a T-Mobileicon broadcast flag on my P280 until I went to Laramie, Wyoming in May of 2003.

You aren't roaming. T-Mobileicon and Cingular do network sharing in California and Nevada.

But if you need to actually be on the T-Mobileicon network to make the change, you should need to only drive as far south as Palmdale. If not, then only a few miles farther down the Antelope (Hwy 14) should get you there.
