I bought a new ATT T68 however ATT does not have service in many areas that I need like Santa Barbara where I am 9 months out of the year. Voicestream(T-Mobile) does have service there so I need to be able to use my phone with T-Mobile. I have already signed up with ATT but is it my understanding that if I unlock my phone I can use T-Mobiles SIM card and buy a plan with them? So how can I unlock my phone and what can I do?

Yes, theoretically that will work. However, AT&T does not unlock their phones. I'd suggest canceling AT&T since I have not read one instance of AT&T unlocking a GSM phone. Sorry.

Yes but how do I get my phone unlocked? If ATT doesn't unlock their phone can I get T-Mobile to do it? What if I said I was going out of the country?

try looking in the forums at tsixtyeight.com, i remeber there being talk their about someone who could unlock phones, etc.
