will unlocked t68 off ebay work on t mobile?

i have a t mobile dealer line, and i know you can unlock these phones. Do you guys know if the so called "unlocked" phones on ebay will work for any gsm carrier? i dont want to deal with calling cingular and trying to get the code since ive read on here that the wont give it to you. Once again i already have a sim card so i just need to put mine in and it will work?

Yes, just make sure it is Unlocked. It is better to by a never-locked phone, becuase even after the code is put into a locked phone, the voice-features become Unlocked, but the data-settings are still hidden, so therefore if you want to use the data-capabilities of the phone, you can only use them with the company that the phone was originally locked to. It's not that T-Mobile won't give them to you, it's that the settings menu won't be accessible, you won't even be able to see it.

I am a T-Mobile user that sat on his phone and busted it. I need to keep my # for now but those sharks will make me extend my contract to get a new phone at a decent price. If I buy an unlocked phone done by some person post-factory, are you saying that it wouldn't work with the data services, such as "T-Zones" from T-Mobile?
Any tips on where to get a never-locked phone?
