Hey guys, This is my first post here. Does anyone know who is/are the best provider(s) in Irvine? I'm from Seattle and am moving to Irvine. I'm currently with AT&T, but my contract expires next month. I'm looking into Verizon, does anyone have bad experience with Verizon? Or, am I better off staying with AT&T? |

I was just driving through Irvine along the 5 and Sand Canyon and noticed that the existing Spectrasite (Verizon) tower now has a second set of antennas on top! I got off the freeway and drove about 1 block South to the base of the tower to take a closer look. I'm almost 100% positive that it is going to be a Sprint PCS site! Sprint already has a fair signal in this area but I suspect they are adding this new one to provide better indoor coverage to the surrounding businesses off the freeway. Very cool!

I've been with AT&T this past year in Irvine and I've had excellent reception for the most part. In some areas (very few), I would get maybe one bar...but most of the time I would have three to four bars. (max) Overall I would definitely recommend AT&T and that is why I am going to extend my contract with them.

I had great difficulty with Sprint in Irvine. I live near the 5 freeway between Jeffrey and Culver and could not get service in my neighborhood which basically made the phone useless. The problem was not resolved after numerous calls (and hours of my time) to Sprint CS and generating several trouble tickets. Their Customer Service and billing problems are still giving me headaches. Sprint will tell you they have excellent coverage in Irvine, but that is definitely NOT what I experienced. I recommend checking out all threads relating to Sprint in Irvine. On the positive side, I had good Sprint coverage in Tulsa Oklahoma, pretty good coverage in Las Vegas, and better than expected coverage driving along I40/44 on my way to Tulsa from Irvine. Good Luck with your search. Eddie |

When I had ATT, I always had problems in the Irvine/Lake Forest/El Toro area...I just recently cancelled my ATT service due to this.

Just because Sprint has a particularly bad spot in a residential area does not mean they are bad in the entire city the size of Irvine. You cannot expect that submitting a trouble ticket to customer service will solve this problem for you either. If they can't get a tower approved (which can take up to two or three years) then there's nothing that can be done to help you no matter how many times you complain. Like I said before I have had tons of personal experience using Sprint in the city of Irvine and for the most part it is very good. But no carrier will be perfect
