In that the body of your post is empty, I'll take that as a tongue-in-cheek commentatory on coverage maps.

CaliphoniaBoy, Do you want to add anything else to this thread besides a blank post? If not I should probably delete it. |

| Oh yes, happened to me again, hit enter too soon... Anyway, here are some comments about the coverage maps of the providers. Becaust the topic came up in various discussions I decided to give it its own thread. I think they maps they all show are just bull____ and a marketing tool. They just do not want to admit how spotty their coverage is when you sign up. I know that they do have the information and they could at least make it available online if they want to avoid high printing costs for the maps. In every map of Cingular wireless for example the whole East Bay should be classified as "low quality coverage"... Anyway, what I really wanted to say is that the info is available and if you are interested in detailled maps of Cingular GSM coverage in the U.S. you only have to go to European roaming partners and look for international GSM coverage. E.g. www.orange.uk has some great information. When you follow the Coverage Link You can browse GSM coverage by the country. In case of the Bay Area it is so detailled that they even have the regional parks identified as "without coverage" what you would not find on any Cingular map. Have fun guys C. |

Wow, they have more geographic info about the U.S. then the U.S. has about itself, and that is scary. Nonetheless that is a cool map. I guess Orange is roaming partners with Voicestream too, because just about all of that coverage is Voicestream, not to be mean or anything.

Well, that map isn't perfect... I'm in TN and only Cingular's and VS's (not GSMworld's, tho) maps reflect the new GSM coverage in southern KY (south of Louisville) on I-75. That area is actually covered partially by Voicestream and Wireless 2000 PCS (London/Corbin area). It's not solid coverage, from my experience, but it's not horrible either. I know Chris lives in Toledo, so if you ever come down I-75 this far, you'll see what I mean. Also, I meant to ask, it appears that there's GSM from Toledo all the way down to Tampa on I-75 (minor gaps notwithstanding).... How's coverage north of Cincy, OH though?

Do you mean Cincinatti? I have only been as far Dayton on I-75 where I-70 crosses, then I went west into Indiana and on in the southwest direction into west Kentucky. I also went south from Toledo to Columbus, where there were some minor gaps, but no gaps as big as the one shown on the map between Toledo and Columbus. Service was good in Columbus aswell as Dayton. I have been to each city a few times within the past year to year and a half. Columbus has some nice malls. I went to Wright-Patterson Airforce base in Dayton all of the time I have been there recently. Overall 'cryogenic,' the service is good north of Cincinatti, atleast as far as I have been. Are you considering traveling up here? |

At some point this summer, I'm considering going to Sandusky, OH to go to Cedar Point, then possibly come back the long way thru Dayton and Cincinnati just for fun. That's why I was asking about northern OH. I do know there's going to be a couple gaps between Columbus & Sandusky on Rt 4, but that's acceptable given how rural that area is (I've been there and there's nothing but hog farms and silos.. rofl).

Cedar Point is the best Amusement Park. It is better than all of the Six Flags, since they only have to build one new roller coaster per year, instead of one for each location like Six Flags does, saves alot of money and ideas.

Yeah I forgot about Disney World. I agree with you all on that. Cedar Point is better than Six Flags though.
