I'm becoming EXTREMELY overwhelmed & need some feedback...Living in the So Cal area & currently have ATT. While I'm happy for the most part, I don't like that my plan doesn't have national LD & has roaming. I've been reading intently all the posts here in hopes it would help me out...however, I'm now more confused than ever!!! My contract is up in September/October...I don't know if there's anything out there that's worse/better & which phone to get...well...forget it! I still have another few days or so to cancel ATT due to their change in n/w & busy signal charge policies...I don't know if I should stick it out or just change over... I've had cingular...YUCK!! I had Airtouch long before it became Verizon...if they're anything like Airtouch...no thanks... Please help this poor confused soul! Jodi |

ATT has plans that include LD and roaming. Is it that they are too expensive for you? Airtouch, if my sources are right, was a spin-off of PacBell. (It was PacBell's first attempt at wireless before they branded the GSM Pacbell system which became Cingular.) Airtouch's coverage probably wasn't all the good because they were mostly a local company. Since Verizon is a merge of several smaller companies into one, I think you'll be very pleased with their service in comparison to AirTouch. |

Verizon has received very good reviews in San Diego. Which AT&T plan do you have? The local plans as I know it include long distance to anywhere in the country from within your home area -- which should be just about the entire state of California. Do you now want a plan that allows you to use in more places outside of California? |

Jodi, It sounds like you are on a local plan. You can switch to AT&T's National Network plan, and get coverage in a large part of the nation, and free LD. AT&T works very well in SoCal. To see a map of what you would be gaining with the NN plan, see their coverage map at: Network Maps Airtouch and Verizon are two COMPLETELY DIFFERENT animals. I cannot emphasize that enough! The difference is like night & day! Verizon is SOOO much better! I agree Airtouch was one of the worst cellular providers in the country! Verizon is now among the best! But AT&T is no slouch. Except for their horribly over-priced regional plans, they are very competitive, and deserve the chance to improve your service with them. Visit their web site and review the National Network plan. -Bill Radio. |

I guess I should clarify...I do have ATT's local plan...but according to them, Las Vegas is part of this plan...but when I went to LV recently, I got charged for the LD! I'm currently on a $39.99 plan which includes 400 anytime, 200 M2M, 2500 n/w. The amount of minutes isn't the issue...it's more the LD thing that concerns me... Hope this clears things up! |

I would go with a network plan, either from Verizon, ATT, or Sprint. Verizon's has the most coverage. All 3 include roaming on their network (covers most cities: Sprint and Verizon anyway), and all 3 include LD.

Hi Jodi, Where in SoCal do u live?! I recently dumped Cingular and went with Verizon and I am very very happy with Verizon. With Cingular, I get little or no reception at home and dropped calls all the time. Now I have full signal at home with my V60c and also 3/4 signal at work (Downtown Los Angeles) on 43rd floor as well as in the elevator!!!!! I believe Verizon has national plan which includes LD and roaming services. Angela |

I live on the borders of LA, Orange & San Bernardino counties. Most of the usage occurs in either Orange county or San Bernardino areas...think I'd still get that kind of reception???

That's basically where I live. I use Sprint and it works very well here. It's a great area for wireless coverage so you should be ok with any carrier.

Jodi, I'd be surprised if you haven't already, but call ATT. Those charges might be removed. In another thread, another poster indicated that Verizon pretty much did the same thing to her. I find ATT to be very reasonable people to work with.

Out of curiosity...one reason I'm looking at leaving ATT is because of my husband's signal...he works in the El Toro area & when trying to call me, his reception is terrible...many dropped calls...much static, etc...does Verizon have better reception in this area??? I work in Santa Ana w/ many towers & great reception regardless of carrier (I even had Cingular & it worked great!! Har Har).
