I saw Mountain Wireless's list of roaming capabilities... WHat if there is a particular market not on the roaming list... Does that mean there is no service.. Are you roaming then on the VZW plan? I noticed that some markets are missing.... Seth |

Seth, Which markets are you looking for? Some are out of order on the list. Others are consolidated into a larger cellular market. Those which are truly not listed do not necessarily mean there is no service. It just means the phone defaults to the "Auto A" or "Auto B" selection in your phone. Also, on the PRL FAQ page, there is a link to what counties are included in which Rural Service Areas. If you need to know if a specific town is included in AC, here is another method. 1) Enter the Zip Code at Verizon's web site. No? Then, 2) Enter the Zip at Alltel's web site. No? Then, 3)Enter the Zip code at Sprint PCS web site. No? Then chances are slim, but not impossible. Call Verizon. -Bill Radio |

What about newbies like USCELL and Century Tel and others.... I actually did try that going to the different websites, but a lot of times I dont know the zip codes there.... It seems like CenturyTel was sold out to ALLTEL.... Is that true... Is there any comprehensivve map out there other than the red maps that are in more detail?

Seth, Yes, CenturyTel will be included, but we don't know when. It cold be already in the billing system and just not yet on the map or the PRL. There is a map for Alltel/CenturyTel, with Verizon roaming at: Alltel/CenturyTel Map And on that map all of Arkansas is covered. That does not necessarily mean a signal is available everywhere. To Find a Zip Code, go to: Zip Codes Are you going to these places on a regular basis, or 1-time? If it's 1-time, and you do end up roaming, call Verizon after you get the bill and ask for forgiveness. They will remove the charges...this time. It's part of the AC learning curve. But if it is indeed CenturyTel area, you might just be good to go anyway. I also read the Central group since I'm close to SD/NE/KS. -Bill |

Bill the map on your last post.... Is that the map I can use to roam on VZW AC?... I noticed it said Verizon Roaming and I didnt quite understand... because most of W Texas for example would not be covered by the A/C plan.... Is this something they recently changed...? So I dont think that is quite right...

I don't think ALLTEL has converted the CenturyTel markets over to CDMA yet and added it to there network. My guess would be the CenturyTel areas are NOT a part of the Verizon's America Choice network yet.

Seth, No, the AC map is the only official source for AC roaming, even though it is already outdated, and more (roaming) areas have been added. The areas, like West Texas, where there is currently no service, are areas where Verizon has licenses, but has not yet built many, or any, sites, yet. Those areas are almost entirely at 1900 MHz. I would estimate that Verizon's current agreement with Sprint PCS has reduced the need for new sites in some of those areas, so I would imagine any new sites there have fallen in priority. The good news is that the area in Northern Arkansas is served by CenturyTel, and will probably be added to the Alltel system by September of this year, and hopefully to Verizon's preferred list shortly thereafter. However, there is no guarentee of CenturyTel service in those towns. -Bill |
