Verizon Wireless, the nation’s largest wireless provider, today announced the launch of digital service in Nogales, Ariz. The new digital coverage is part of the company’s $8 billion investment over the last two years to extend its coast-to-coast network. “The expansion of digital service to Nogales is an example of Verizon Wireless’ commitment to continually develop and enhance its network,” said Ralph Martinez, regional president for Verizon Wireless. “Digital service will provide our customers with numerous benefits, including superior voice quality and security, longer battery life and talk time, and the ability to use advanced wireless services such as Internet access and two-way text messaging.” The arrival of digital service in Nogales also allows consumers to take advantage of Verizon Wireless’ new America’s ChoiceSM plans. Available with specified CDMA digital Tri-Mode handsets, America’s Choice plans offer customers Verizon Wireless’ entire coast-to-coast footprint as their home calling area, large buckets of minutes and free long distance from the America’s Choice footprint. All digital customers can also take advantage of features like Caller ID and Voicemail. Previously, Verizon Wireless offered only analog service in the area. With the introduction of digital service, analog customers will continue to enjoy their existing coverage, and have the option to upgrade to a digital phone to enjoy the features and benefits of digital service.

Actually, the article is dated March 11 of this year, I found it a while ago on Bill Radio's site, www.mountainwireless.com. I wonder how Nogales looks now, I haven't been there, or Nogales, Mexico, in 20 years.

Rich, Where are you located? If you are interested in Verizon News Releases for AZ and most of the west, they have been posted at: Verizon News It doesn't include store openings, though. If you're in SE AZ, we would love to hear how the Verizon conversion is coming in Gila and Pinal Counties. -Bill Radio |
