Default Back to ATT from Verizon

    Hi,

I have been reading this forum for a while now and have found it to be very helpful. Well I live in the Phoenix area and just switched back to ATT from Verizonicon. I had ATT for about a year and a half prior to switching to Verizonicon and have just switched after the same amount of time with Verizonicon. Well I left ATT because the pricing was not that great and a few areas of town where the coverage was lacking and at the time Verizon was just started and the Single Rate plan was a great deal also they cover most of AZ so I picked out the AV 9000 and away I went wow this is great until I started to travel out of state. Well about 7 months ago I went to the LA area and my wife had ATT at the time on a Nokia 5160. Well obivously both phones performed well on the freeways airport etc but my Verizon phone never had a very good signal in the Venice beach/Santa Monica Beach area or up near the Malibu area and the ATT phone full signal. Also the Verizon signal was very weak in the Studio city area and calls would roll to VM. Then just the last trip I made last month Pennsylvania in a Verizon market Somerset PA the signal was hit and miss calls going to VM and phone not ringing even tried *18 and had the current PRL but in our B&B I had 4 bars of signal and still no calls. Larry you will like this since you are the Sprint man the area we were in for Sprint had partial coverage note on the SPCS website but my sister who uses a qcp2760 (I think that is the model real thick phone one of the first Qualcomms) was making calls and receiving calls nonstop in an all brick hospital and all over town. I had cell phone svc envy. Anyway I had been in that same area about two years b4 with my old ATT 6160 and had svc everywhere vm etc worked and phone rang. Well the last trip is what did it and rather than take a chance on a new Verizon phone and sign up for another year since I did not have any travel plans I said foget it I know ATT works in these places plus the dead spots here in PHX that I used to have are gone what the hek. As far as digital protocol who cares as long as the phone works when and where you need it and personally I cannot tell the difference I just think it depends on how many cell sites and implementation. On a side note I was able to call out on my Verizon phone and get vm indications in LA when in a good signal area but not in PA. Also the Verizon phone did work fine at home and Verizon CS which I called a couple of times when I got home the reps could care less about my business and I was very nice on the phone and told them I was going to cancel and they were perplexed as to why even when I explained my issue. Then they asked what can we do to keep you and I said let me buy another phone at the discounted price but not sign me up for another year and the rep was just quiet and said ok I will have this disconnected for you. Anyway I am not in any way bashing Verizon I was very happy and a proponent of Verzion up until this and my wife has had them for about 7 months and is very happy with them locally so I use ATT and she uses Verizon. Oh and yes ATT does have great CS today and in the past. Sorry for the long post.
